About the benefits of seawater
All Marimer products are composed of quality seawater rich in trace elements, such as copper, zinc and manganese. These elements are known for their therapeutic properties in treating respiratory diseases. This pure seawater is sourced from the Mont Saint-Michel Bay in Saint-Malo, renowned for its great tides with a more than 15-metre rise and fall differential—creating powerful streams that ensure excellent oxygenation of the water and promoting a rich bounty of minerals therein. All the benefits of this mineral-salt-rich seawater are retained, as sterilization is completed through micro-filtration, a mechanical process that eliminates all impurities while preserving the properties and trace elements of the seawater.
You can enjoy the benefits of 100% natural seawater by getting the full range of Marimer seawater solutions.
Like all the fluids in your body, seawater naturally consists of water and salt—only the salt concentration is naturally higher in seawater. To make it tolerable, the salt concentration is reduced until it has reached a level identical to that of the human body (isotonic) or higher (hypertonic). What’s more, seawater naturally contains mineral salts and trace minerals that help strengthen your body, particularly during more taxing times, such as winter and spring.

Seawater
Q: What is seawater used for?
A: Like all the fluids in your body, seawater naturally consists of water and salt—only the salt concentration is naturally higher in seawater.
Q: Can the daily use of isotonic seawater have an adverse effect on the nose and nasal flora?
A: Daily use can only have a beneficial effect on the nasal membrane, especially if you’re confronted with external assaults (cold, pollution, allergens…) on a daily basis. However, you must follow the dosage guidelines on the product label.
Q: What’s the difference between “isotonic” and “hypertonic”?
A: The cells in your body naturally have a 0.9% salt concentration. An isotonic solution will have the same concentration. A hypertonic solution has a higher salt concentration than that of your cells (2.2% for the Marimer solution). Its application will have an osmotic effect. In fact, the cells will release water, allowing for easier elimination of accumulated mucus from the nasal membrane surface. That’s why the hypertonic solution is only indicated in case of a stuffy nose, whereas an isotonic solution can be used daily as part of preventive nasal hygiene.
Q: Is the seawater used polluted?
A: Every precaution is taken to provide the best quality water possible. The seawater is collected from an area renowned for its water quality, in which oysters are farmed. The water is then drawn from a few metres deep, where pollutants float on the surface, and is regularly analyzed. Next, the seawater is filtered in such a way that only the salts and trace elements (elements smaller than living organisms) are retained. Finally, throughout the whole process, right through to bottling in an entirely sterile area, the water is monitored at every step to ensure its quality and fineness.
Using Marimer Sprays
Q: What is microdiffusion?
A: It is a system that allows the solution to be both evenly dispersed and gently diffused in the nasal cavity, making the droplets of seawater solution adhere better to the nasal membrane surface.
Q: Can I use another person’s nozzle?
A: Yes, as long as the nozzle is cleaned after each use. However, it’s always best to have one product per family member, particularly when it seems as though everyone is coming down with a cold.
Q: Do I have to swallow or blow my nose?
A: Although your stomach is able to naturally eliminate whatever you might swallow, it’s preferable and much more comfortable to blow your nose to clear out any excess product and mucus. For infants, we recommend using the Baby Nasal Aspirator.
Q: How long can Marimer sprays be kept after opening?
A: The bag-on-valve system makes it possible to store the product from its first use until the expiration date (i.e. 3 years after its manufacturing date). The valve protects the product from contamination. Of course, it’s advisable to clean the lid and nozzle regularly.
Q: When is it best to use unidose vs. spray and vice versa?
A: Whether it be the spray or the unidose, the solution has the same qualities and properties. The spray delivers the product via microdiffusion, while the unidose is particularly suited to travelling. However, some parents prefer to use the unidose for the first few days of their baby’s life.
Stuffy Nose – Cold
Q: What should I take in case of a stuffy nose?
A: We recommend using Marimer Nasal Congestion Relief Adult or Baby Nasal Congestion Relief.
Allergies
Q: What should I take in case of hay fever?
A: Your doctor might suggest a weekly controlled-dose injection of the allergen, a solution to place under the tongue every morning or a tablet to melt under the tongue. Several years of treatment are often needed.

The History of Marimer
Marimer offers high-quality, natural nasal health care products for the whole family. Its product line was developed by Laboratoires Gilbert, a member of Groupe Batteur, the French pharmaceutical and cosmetics group specializing in health, beauty and wellness.

What about Groupe Batteur?
Groupe Batteur began in 1958, when pharmacist Jacques Batteur purchased Laboratoires Gilbert. Nearly 30 years later, in 1986, the group enjoyed a period of rapid expansion under the leadership of his son, Laurent Batteur. During the 25 years Laurent spent at the head of the group, the workforce grew from 20 employees to more than 800, and sales reached record levels—outstanding results for this builder-entrepreneur who has always prided himself on the fact that the company has remained family-run.
Since 2012, Jacques Batteur’s two grandsons, Cédric and Romain, have been running the company together while their father, Laurent Batteur, retains his title as Chairman Managing Director.
Groupe Batteur produces and sells hundreds of products in as many countries. New to North America, the MariCare store’s products were developed using the most natural compositions and purest ingredients for maximum effectiveness and tolerance, thus providing guaranteed quality at exceptional prices.
